THE VOWS – Example 1
Celebrant:
Will the Groom and Bride
please face each other, look into each others eyes, hold hands and repeat your
Vows after me?
Bride to Groom:
Frank, to
say I love you is not enough.
There are no words to convey
the respect I have for you,
the strength I gain from your
presence and wisdom,
how your smile touches my heart
and soul,
how excited I am when I see you,
how comfortable I am with you and
how silly we can be,
and how you helped me to be the
woman I always knew I could be
I am proud to take you as my
husband.
To give myself to you as your
wife,
your devoted friend,
your love,
your number one fan,
and your lifelong partner,
To share my life with you,
to not only dream with you,
but make those dreams reality.
I promise to be by your side
always.
I promise to respect you as
an individual,
and grow as a person
in partnership with you.
I promise to love you with
all I have to give
and all I feel inside,
completely and forever,
For our shared adventure in
life
for infinity.
Groom to Bride:
Helene, to say I love you is not enough.
There are no words to convey
how I
feel in the morning when I wake up next to you
how I
feel when I hear your voice
the
anticipation I feel when I know I’m going to see you
the
happiness and love in my heart when we have time together
I am proud to take you as my
wife
To give myself to you as your
husband
your devoted partner,
your love
your companion
your best friend,
and the person who will love you
for the rest of your life;
to share the rest of life’s journey with you.
I promise to respect you,
care for you,
shelter
you,
and love
you
for our
shared adventure in life,
for
infinity.

VOWS - Example 4
_______________*________________
If you,
X, take this woman, Y,
and if you, Y, take this man, X,
you two who have taken each other
many times, then this
may be something to trust,
two separate folks not becoming halves,
as younger people do, but becoming
neither more nor less than yourselves,
separate and
together, and if
this means a different kind of love,
as it must, if it means different
conveniences and inconveniences, as it must,
then let this good
luck
from a stranger act like grease
for what may yet be difficult, undefined,
and when the ordinary days of marriage
stretch out like prairie,
here’s to the wisdom which understands
that if the heart’s right
and the mind at ease with it
the prairie is a livable place, a place
for withstanding all kinds of weather,
and here’s to the little hills,
the ones that take you by surprise,
and the ones you’ll need to invent.

Groom:
May our love always be as constant
and unchanging as the never-ending waves,
flowing endlessly from the depths of the sea;
your love came softly upon my heart,
just as the foam comes softly upon the sand,
and just as there will never be a morning without the
ocean's flow,
so there will never be a day without my love for
you.
I pledge myself to you this
day
and I promise to be your faithful husband,
as unchanging and dependable as the tide;
as the waters nourish the earth and sustain life,
may my constant love nourish
and sustain you until the end of time.
Bride:
Long ago, I dreamed of you,
though I couldn’t see your face.
This was a magic dream.
And I must have some magic

VOWS, Light-Hearted, Second Marriage - Example 10
Celebrant:
Tony and Joanne have written
their own vows, and before they recite them, they want everyone to understand
that although parts of the vows may sound humorous, these promises they make to
each other are sincere and heartfelt.
Indeed, in my experience, Tony and Joanne, by their vows, recognize
those things that truly make a marriage strong – living everyday life together
with grace and patience.
Joanne and Tony, please face
one another to make your vows.
Joanne:
I, Joanne, take you Tony
to be my husband,
best friend,
lover,
confidant,
and gambling partner.
To love and to cherish, from
this day forward,
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
for the rest of my life.
I promise to be true,
to be faithful,
to support your stock market endeavors,
to tolerate your coughing,
and despite any faults you may have,
I promise to love and stand
by you all the days of my life.
Tony:
I, Tony, take you Joanne
to be my wife,
best friend,
lover,
confidant,
and consigliore,
To love and cherish, from
this day forward,
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
for the rest of my life.
I promise to be true,
to be faithful,
to root for the Dallas Cowboys,
to tolerate your smoking,
and despite any faults you may have,
I promise to love and stand
by you all the days of my life.
VOWS - Example 11
I, Frank, take
you Leanne, to be my wife
For a time I thought I would never know
a deep and peaceful love again.
Then, you came along
and offered me your heart.
You restored my faith in love.
In my own goodness and value.
In the idea of good things coming to those who wait.
You are all good things to me.
I promise you my undying affection, support, respect and admiration.
I promise you that I will lift you up, as you have lifted me
I promise that I will do my best and always try
May my heart be your shelter and my arms be your home.
